The wafer contains over 200 individual processor chips. Built by Performance Semiconductor in 1991 and used in the DECSTATION 5000, the PR3400 is a powerful combination of the R3000 CPU and the R3010 FPU. The PR3400 was an early forerunner of the Mongoose CPU which can be found in several spacecraft. The Mongoose CPU used these same two components that had been radiation hardened and ran at a much reduced speed. Photos were taken under ordinary white room lighting.
