Seagulls, evergreen trees, sand dollars, water, fish and shells are depicted in lace on this garter stitch shawl. Knit from the center neck edge down, the side edges are finished with the lace shell edging, and the top is edged with I-cord. Size: After blocking, shawl measures approximately 40" deep at center back, 58" along sides and 80" across top. Yam Requirements: Approximately 3½ ounces (1,100 yds) of lace weight yarn. Photographed shawl is made in Jaggerspun Zephyr. Needles: Size 6 ( 4.0 mm) 24" (60 cm) circular, a set of double pointed needles in size 6 ( 4.0 mm) and one size 7 ( 4.5 mm) double pointed needle. Gauge: 16 sts = 4" (10 cm) in garter st. This is an unblocked, but relaxed gauge. To test knit a 5" square in garter stitch, pull in all directions to relax, then lay on a flat surface to measure.
