Like most of these, they are used and abused, Or they have been used once or twice and then left sitting. The variable speed is a real plus with this unit. The best and made in the USA. Only thing wrong is the stress reliever is slid down the cord, from just sitting. Does not affect operation in any way. I have enclosed one if you want to replace it, with the wrench to remove the disc retainer nut.
