Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts! Here's a FINE example of a subdued desert tan unit logo patch for Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing. During WWII, Marines actually wore these as a shoulder sleeve insignia. The practice was discontinued in 1947, but the aviation patches still find their way onto flight jackets and flight suits, as well as off-duty civilian clothing. (This, of course, is not a WWII patch, but a modern subdued variant.) NOTE: Please Visit my eBay Store for other full-color and subdued Marine Air Wing patches, including some compatible with the Army’s current ACU uniform! These famous kite-shaped patches are a familiar sight on anything associated with Marine Corps aviation. As early as 1946, John Wayne’s character wears one in the movie Without Reservations. And of course Top Gun’s “Maverick” sports one on his vintage leather flight jacket! These patches are essential must-have items for all types of "Airdales" ..... "Zoomies" ..... "Rotorheads" ..... or anyone else with ties to “the Wing.” 4th Marine Aircraft Wing history begins with WWII and its commissioning in 1942 as 4th Marine Base Defense Aircraft Wing. With squadrons at Midway, Ewa, and Samoa, 4th Wing pilots perfected low-altitude bombing and close air support techniques that the USMC is famous for! Currently 4th MAW is made up of Marine Reserve aviation units all across the nation. In 1950, Marine Reserve fighter squadrons were mobilized, and deployed in record time for duty in Korea! And in the 1990s, 4th MAW squadrons and personnel were mobilized and deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Desert Storm! Fourth Air Wing’s role is, of course, to provide the aviation component to the famed Marine Air/Ground team (as reservists, potentially any deployed Marine ground forces.) Their headquarters is based in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is a NEW and UNUSED patch. It is NOT a war relic but a recent manufacture item! Embroidered on khaki (tan) twill with merrowed edge and plastic heat-sealed backing. Colors are clean and bright. See ruler in photo for size comparison. Flat fee for shipping is $3.00. Semper Fi! Thanks for looking! Still haven't found the patch you're seeking? Please Visit my eBay Store for the best selection of USMC patches on the web! Agonizin' Reappraisal "Neat stuff." No International Shipping for This Item Contacting Me: Click "Ask a question" link above to make initial contact, and I will respond in kind using the “eBay Messaging” forum. Please monitor your e-mail and/or eBay "Messages" tab for my response. I'll share my e-mail address in the response, and you are welcome to communicate with me via e-mail at that point if you wish. (Your e-mail address will only be used for response to questions or transactions. I have no interest in sending unsolicited advertising, and will not share your contact info with anyone.) I try to respond within 24 hours, but hope you understand I do have a life outside eBay, and may not always be so prompt. And please take into account weekends and traditional US holidays. Messages communicating info about a listed item are appreciated ..... but may not get response quite as fast as a message that requires immediate answer. I do have to prioritize every now and then. ;-) Packaging & Reliability: My flat-fee shipping structure covers cost of packaging and postage, and is a best-guess estimate for size and weight of items. It's not an exact science. (The flat fee is still significantly less than my actual cost for postage.) Items ship in zip-closure poly bags to protect from moisture. Items ship as trackable USPS Ground Advantage parcels within the US. In my experience, the track record of US Postal Service delivery within the US is practically 100% reliable. I may at my discretion choose insurance for shipments of a certain value. But the best insurance you can have is to make sure you provide a current and correct postal delivery address, and to check your mailbox regularly. Items ship within 1 business day of receiving payment. Check my feedback for satisfied customer testimonials! Feedback: I always post feedback after a completed transaction and always appreciate feedback from satisfied buyers. Normally takes me only a day or two, but sometimes I get behind. Please be patient. Also, if you are dissatisfied in any way, please contact me before posting negative. Maybe there's a misunderstanding, or something we can work out. Return Policy: "No Returns Accepted" is my designated policy, unless an item has a defect or was misrepresented. I go to great lengths to describe each item honestly and accurately, and there’s a ruler in each photo for size comparison. I ask that you be sure of your decision before buying. Please read the description entirely and carefully examine the photo. Ask questions prior to bidding. I try to respond to e-mail inquiries within 24 hours. Please resolve any questions or doubts prior to purchasing. My Expectations: Buyer’s on-file E-mail address is valid, and checked regularly. Buyer's confirmed ship-to address is correct and current for postal delivery. Payment (or communication indicating buyer’s intentions) within three (3) business days is appreciated. If no response, a reminder invoice is sent. If I don't hear from a buyer — in any form — after more than ten (10) business days, a case may eventually be filed with eBay’s Resolution Center to recover the Final Value Fee (eBay’s commission) on a sale not completed. In the case of an auction, this usually results in the item being re-listed. :-( Bottom line: Please contact me if there are circumstances in which you cannot comply with above expectations.
