You are looking at an obscure vintage 1970's or 80's era Electro Voice model PL-88 model dynamic cardioid microphone that comes with an E.V mic clip and cable shown in which to operate. This is one of two I currently have listed for sale. I honestly don't know much about these PL-88 models as I've never sold any before and they only seemed to have a short run of about 10 years before being discontinued. I know that PL stood for "Professional Line". Otherwise, I'm a bit clueless about the history of these. The PL-88 had a pastel light grey painted body to cut down on unwanted light glare which was and could be a problem with the satin chrome microphones. It's an all metal construction and very rugged as well as being lite weight so it's very easy to hold for prolonged periods of time. The PL-88 has a classic stick mic design and is appx 7 inches long X 2 inches wide at the tip. It comes with a perfect operating on / off switch as well. The E.V PL-88 is also set at low impedance with a smooth, warm tone that's excellent for broadcasting and singing. A very strong signal as well so you really don't need any gain on this model. A wise choice for quality sound and it's a "super cardioid" so it picks up much less background noise. These 70's and 80's era dynamic cardioid microphones were really top notch and though the E.V label is a bit worn you can see this model was actually made in Japan. If you remember back in the 1980's Japan was still manufacturing all their goods in country and they were all extremely high quality that were built to last. I didn't even know that E.V ever had a facility in Japan as I thought all their mics at that time were built in the U.S.A. and of course everything is either built in Mexico or China for the most part today. As seen in the pics provided the painted body shows typical lite wear only in the form of a couple tiny paint chips and a few scratches but zero dents or corrosion. Again, the E.V label is worn but mostly legible. The front screens are very nice with no dents, odors or tarnish. The old inner pop filter was replaced with a new one as the older ones simply fall apart due to old age. This will greatly improve the sound characteristics of the mic and will be greatly appreciated. You can always use an exterior pop filter as well for added protection. I'd rate the true cosmetic condition an 7 on a scale of 1 - 10.The microphone takes a standard XLR cable which is included. It's in excellent condition and 15 feet in length. It has the quality Switchcraft female XLR connector with a Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers. The Electro Voice 358 model mic clip is included as well and was designed for this mic giving a good firm hold and while it shows very lite cosmetic wear it works perfectly and will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have. If you want something a little different with a lot of character and excellent performance...this PL-88 will do the trick. MICROPHONE STAND IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...NOT PART OF THIS SALE.
