The patch was removed from a uniform. The 15th fought in Europe. They were immortalized for Operation Tidal Wave, the huge long distance raid to cripple German oil production by hitting the Oil Fields at Ploesti in Romania. It is at least 79 years old in fair condition. One of their earliest and most famous (or infamous) missions was the long haul strike on the Romanian Ploesti Oil Fields. Ploesti was one of the most brutal Air Combat Missions of WWII.
